Past Artist Residents

The Port Bickerton and Area Planning Association offers an Artist-in-Residence Program. This program allows artists to focus on their craft in a peaceful, seclusive environment. Beginning in 2014 with Susan Paterson, this program is an outstanding opportunity for artistic development.

Below, please find the Past Fellows of the Artist-in-Residence Program:

Heidi Holloway

2025

Chester, Nova Scotia

Heidi Holloway was our artist-in-residence for 2025. Coming from Chester, Nova Scotia, Heidi is a painter. Inspired by the local Port Bickerton nature, she used her time in residence to fuel her passion for painting birds.

Gwen Raffo

2024

Wolfville, Nova Scotia

Gwen Raffo was our artist-in-residence for 2024. Coming from Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Gwen is a painter and broom maker. To pursue her passion for broom making, Gwen dedicated her time here to create 2 broom pieces, which she left here for us to put on display for future residents. She hopes her art pieces will help inspire the future artist-in-residents to come.

Catherine Vardy

2023

Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

Catherine Vardy was our artist-in-residence for 2023. Coming from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Catherine is a fabric artist who creates reversible quilts. During her stay in the program, she worked on a series of 7 quilts for a client of hers.

Wayne Boucher was our artist-in-residence for 2020. Coming from Graywood, Nova Scotia, Wayne is an abstract painter.
